What We Do

What We Do

PBFI’s Sustainable Sourcing Initiative works with stakeholders across our food system, from growers to food companies and beyond, to realize a more regenerative, equitable, plant-based future of food. Our work is built on three central pillars:

CREATING DOMESTIC SUPPLY

Building capacity to support growth in the plant-based food industry and create more stable, sustainable supply networks.

By promoting the adoption of domestic sourcing practices, we also increase resources, support, and crop availability and diversity for a domestic plant-based food industry that is currently scaling to meet growing consumer demand.

PROMOTING REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Building a regenerative, resilient plant-based food supply chain.

By facilitating the implementation of regenerative practices across plant-based supply chains, we help participants identify and meet comprehensive ESG goals and promote biodiversity, nutrition, and soil health.

IMPROVING EQUITY AND LIVELIHOODS

Increasing equity across agricultural communities and improving the livelihoods of stakeholders throughout the plant-based foods industry.

By supporting initiatives designed to improve equity across plant-based supply chains, we help participating companies create new pathways to support diverse and historically-marginalized farmers and stakeholders, advance equity goals and impact through training and education, and invest in rural communities’ long-term viability and profitability.
